Meet the Artist: Gordon Webster

By Gordon Webster
First of all, Barcelona is truly one of my favorite cities in the entire world... I love the people and the culture and the food... Such a beautiful city.  I know all the musicians in my group feel the same as well! Musically I'm very excited about the group I'm bringing to this festival... I'm able to feature two of the very best horn players I know of in New York or anywhere.
Gordon Au (trumpet) is an alumnus of the prestigious Monk Institute, where he studied and collaborated on an extremely high level under the guidance of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter... He has spent time living in New Orleans and now makes his home in NYC where he leads a traditional jazz/swing group called the Grand Street Stompers. Gordon's solos are perfect and worthy of being transcribed and studied in my opinion!
Adrian Cunningham (sax, clarinet, flute) is a tremendous talent, originally from Sydney, Australia where he is known nationally for his own projects as a performer, composer and arranger. He now lives in NYC, where he is in high demand as a sideman in many styles, such as in the trad jazz scene as well as the modern mainstream jazz scene.  He has recently toured and recorded with Wycliffe Gordon among others.
The rhythm section of this group has been performing together for 4 years and the entire group has developed a unique chemistry that is more than the sum of its parts.
We're very excited to present this passionate ensemble to a Barcelona audience this November!
